D-8 summit may adopt roadmap for economic ties

Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed leaves for Kuala Lumpur Monday to attend the 6th D-8 Summit in the Malaysian capital Tuesday, which is going to adopt a new economic cooperation agenda, reports UNB.

The summit meet of the heads of state or government of the eight prominent Muslim countries is expected to adopt D-8 Roadmap for Economic Cooperation in the Second Decade of Cooperation (2008-2018).

The theme of this year's D-8 summit is 'Meeting Challenges through Innovative Cooperation', which calls for charting out newer modes of interaction among the member-countries.

However, the D-8 countries are yet to agree on the preferential trade agreement, Foreign Advisor Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury said who is now in Malaysian capital.
