Pematang Siantar Town

Pematang Siantar is situated 128 kms sout heast of Medan. It is the second largest city in North Sumatera. Along the road to Pematang Siantar passed through area are the big plantations that have made this region rich. There are kilometers of well lined up rubber and cacao trees. Oil palm are grown also on either side of the road. The petentials of this region have been well develeloped.

• Karang sari vilage

This Karang Sari lies about 17 kms from Pematang Siantar. It’s a pleasant place for recreating. Many local tourist from Pematang Siantar always come to visit the area. There is a river here water sports such as swimming, water biking, and fishing are offered. A small restourant is available and several small bungalows for reaasting. One can buy kinds of fruit such as durian, rambutan, manggoes and sold in aboundance here during the fruit season.



• Keramat Qubah

This is a tourist attraction which is visited by many visitors either domestic or over seas, especially Chinese. One of the interisting things here is the wild Monkeys which roam freely abourt the place. It is located the town of Perdagangan, 40 kms from Pematang Siantar

• Tigaras Village

Tigaras is tourist attraction situated on the shore of the east side of Like Toba. The air here is pleasantly cool and fresh. Tigaras is 48 kms away from Pematang Siantar, Recreational sports such as swimming, canoeing and fishing area offered.

• Simajarunjung Village

Lying high up on the hillside, Simarjarunjung has cool and fresh climate. From here one can enjoy panoramic views up and beyond Lake Toba and watch the beatiful colurs of sunset. One can see the microwave station. Tao isle, Samosir island, the village of Tigaras and as well as Parapat in distance.

A restourant selling drinks and food can be found here. Simajarunjung is located 40 kms from Pematang Siantar, the capital of Simalungun

• Siantar Zoo

It’s an ideal recreation place, located in the city of Pematang Siantar. Inside the Zoo, there are many animals and varieties of Indonesia faouna as well as flora providing shades.

Other facilities available such as restaurant, swimming pool and water bikes.

• Simalungun Museum

It’s located in the Simalungun region, it’s visited by many domestic and foreign tourist. The museum has an extensive and interesting collection of uniq things dating from the times of the acient Simalungun Kingdom.

• Pematang Purba

It’s located about140 kms from Medan, this village of the Batak Simalungun tribe is almost 200 yerars old. It is rather diferent from Lingga village, another ancient Batak village located in the Karo highlinds. Pematang Purba has been restored as an open museum, as the traditional village of the Simalungun trible chiefs. The long house was the dwelling place of the chief and his wifes centuries ago. Made of teak boards and standing on peoples, the main building is decorated with carved ornaments, painted in the traditional Batak colours of red, black and white.

• Haranggaol

Haranggoul is located on the western side of Lake Toba. It lies between lush, green hills and one can enjoy afntastic view of the lake. From Haranggaol, one can cross the lake to Parapat or Samosir island by boat. There is boat going arround the island, stopping every village and take in more passengers.

Most of the local inhabitants are Batak of Simalungun tribe. They live on the agriculture.

Some recreational activities such as fishing, swimming, canoeing, and motor boats are offered here.

• Parapat – Lake Toba

The town of Parapat is situated in alarge bay Lake Toba. Parapat is the main tourist town oif the the province-one of North Sumatra’s greatest tourist attractions.
It’s located 176 kms from Medan on the northern shore of the Lake, it can be reached after a 3 to 4 hour trip from Medan by taxi or bus. There is aconstant flow of buses and boats to and from Parapat because of its position as the main centre of the area. From here apostcard shot of yhe lake can be taken especially in the evening.

Lake Toba is one of the largest and most beatiful lakes in the world, criginating from an early volcanic eruption. The area of the lake covers approximately 1707 square kilometers, and 906 meters above sea level. In the middle of the lake there is fomous island, so-called Samosir, measuring 627 square kilometers, which is home to fierce but warm hearted Batak Toba people.
